If a text object is not locked, then it can be moved anywhere on the page. Additionaly, a text object will change size based on the amount of text typed and the size of the font used.
You can lock a text object (under the Edit menu select Properties). However, the student will not be able to edit the text in a locked object.
In your screenshot example shown, you could paint a box on the page where you would like the text to appear.
