Here are some ways to check a text object...
When you select a text object, you should see green handles around the object. If you do not see the handles, then the text can't be edited.
If you can select the object with the Edit tool (arrow), then you will see 4 handles around the object. You will also see the text options on the Options panel.

If you see gray handles around the object, it is locked. You will also see an indication on the options panel showing the object is locked.

Locked objects are usually used in templates and activities.
If you can't select the text object with the arrow tool, it may have been glued or sent to the background layer. This may happen with younger learners by accident.
To see if a text object has been glued, click the Paint tab in Wixie and select the eraser. Click and drag the cursor over the text to see if you can erase it. If so, this text is part of the paint layer.

If you can't erase the text, choose a paint tool like the pen. Click and drag the cursor over the text object. If you can draw over the text, it has been sent to the background layer.

If you are working on the project you can use the Undo button to undo the change to the paint layer or background. Unfortunately, if the project has been saved and reopened, this change can not be undone.
