Gluing a sticker down makes it part of the canvas. As you noted, you can undo this action, but your student has already added to much content for this to be an effective answer. The only other option is to use the select tools (Paint Tab and the dotted box tool is the select tool). Draw a box or use the freeform tool to draw around the sticker and then go to Edit Menu and Convert to Sticker.
