Frames 5 will create a file that is either 1280 x 720 (widescreen) or 800 x 600 (standard), so most modern digital still cameras will work fine even at their lowest setting. You may want to look for some features such as a standard tripod mount or a remote shutter control to help take clear pictures for your animations. One advantage of using a digital still camera is that work can be done away from the computer or even at a remote location.
You can also use a web camera if you want to take pictures directly in Frames. Again, most newer web cameras will have a high enough resolution to use in Frames. You can take advantage of Frames time lapse feature using a web cam. One thing to consider when using a web cam is that they will often adjust the light balance dynamically which is handy when you are in a video chat, but sometimes may change the color balance when taking still images. I have used web cams from Logitech, Labtech, Kodak and Ipevo with good results.
