You can follow the steps below and then use Apple Remote Desktop to replace
the modified Pixie application on all machines (or forward this to your IT
staff):
1. Log on to a machine as a local admin
2. Open the Applications folder and select the Pixie 4 application
(Quit Pixie if it is running)
3. Press the Control key on the keyboard and click the application
4. Choose Show Package Contents
5. Open the Contents folder then the Java folder
6. Select the Pixie.ini file
7. Press the Option key on the keyboard and drag a copy of this file
to your desktop
8. Double-click the Pixie.ini file on the desktop
9. Click Choose Application
10. Select Text Edit to open the file
11. Change this line - #Pixie.4.registrationKey=XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX
12. Remove the # character from the beginning of the line and replace the
XXXXXX with your registration code
13. The line will look like this:
Pixie.4.registrationKey=PXDXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX
14. Save the file and quit Text Edit
15. Drag the Pixie.ini file back into the Java folder inside of the Pixie
app
16. You will be prompted the item can't be modified - click Authenticate
17. Click Replace
18. Enter your Admin password and then click OK
19. Log on as a Student user
20. Launch Pixie to ensure that you are not prompted to register. *If you
are prompted to register, there is probably a typo in the registration code
entered in the INI file.
21. You can use Apple Remote Desktop to push out the modified Pixie 4 app
to all of your machines.
The same steps apply to Share 4 and Frames 6.
