There is an installer available to resolve these issues after upgrading to 10.10.
Download the installer.

I have downloaded the installer -- I was able to open it -- but it gets stuck at the first page -- of where to install -- It never chooses my computer hd? It doesn't even let ME choose my computer hard drive??? Any suggestions?
I have a screen shot but can't figure how to include it here

You will need to be logged in with an account that has access to install software.
You may also need to approve the application in the System Security and Privacy control panel (in the General tab) for the installation to complete.

I have a new Mac running the latest Yosemite, version 10.10.3. I downloaded and installed Pixie 3.10, then ran the Java Resource Installer. I still get an error saying "To open Pixie you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime." I don't really want to go back to a legacy Java version with security issues. Is that what's required?

Yes, you will need to install the earlier version of Java. This version will only be used by applications that require the components needed in that version.
Pixie 3 is no longer being developed, so we are limited in the support we can provide for that application.
You can upgrade to Pixie 4 if you're concerned about the Java version as Pixie 4 does not require a system-level java.

On El Capitan this fails to install. Any workaround?

It does not look like these components are supported on OS X 10.11 (El Capitan). This is beyond our control.

What a shame that it is not upgrade-able to El Capitain. This means I will be losing a program I have already paid for as soon as I upgrade my OS! Perhaps you need to determine how to issue a refund to those of us who have paid for a full year now! Disappointed - I LOVE this app for my K - 4 kids!

If you purchased Maintenance for Pixie 3, then you are eligible to upgrade to Pixie 4 which is supported on OS X 10.11. Please contact customer support at 1-877-834-5453 (in the US). You can also email them at - info@tech4learning.com
